I will also be assigning the Reforms brochure: Select 12 of the reforms we've studied over the last couple of weeks (list handed out to kids). Design a brochure that briefly explains the 12 you've chosen. Include hand-drawn pictures with at least 9 of them. Color the brochure, make it look nice. Due beginning of class Wednesday

Monday--no school for students
Tuesday--guest speakers, two officers from the Milton-Freewater Police Department will be in class to talk about police procedures etc. It's an invaluable resource for these kids to get answers from the people acutally doing the job, since I am not a police officer or lawyer, there are sometimes questions I cannot answer.
Wednesday--Civil Liberties and Due Process, reading and some notes/vocabulary
Thursday--vocabulary review
Friday--Analyzing court cases, case review sheets, due Monday 11/5, depending how much we get done today 11/2.

Monday thru Wednesday--Film, "And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself" a mostly true story about a California film company's decision to make a movie about Pancho Villa and the Mexican Revolution. It's a great film. Students will not have to take notes or anything, we will have discussion about the film and its relevance.

Thursday--Mexican Corridos
Friday--finish and present corridos

I'm at an educational conference Monday and Tuesday, which is why I have chosen to show the film now rather than at the conclusion of the unit. I will have email access at the conference so feel free to contact me if necessary.

Monday and Tuesday--I'm out of town at an educator's conference, so students will be watching a film, "Gideon's Trumpet" about a landmark Supreme Court case from the 1960s. They will have to take some notes and/or answer questions, due at the conclusion of the movie, Wednesday.
Wednesday--finish film
Thursday--Judicial Branch notes, this will actually be sort of the introduction to the unit, even though they will have analyzed the Gideon case, but with me being gone, this is how I have decided to organize the unit.
Friday--continue Judieial notes, questions, due BOC Monday

Originally we were going to start the Legislative Branch on Thursday after the quiz, but instead we will be starting review over everything we have studied so far--6 Basic Principles of Government, Bill of Rights, and the Amendment Process--for a test over all of that material next week, probably Tuesday.
